‘In L’Amour, Michelet has shown us the rudimentary woman, so to speak — unformed dependant, helpless &mdash needing to be soothed, sustained, guided, strengthened; and he says — love her! In La Femme, he introduces us to the cultivated woman, fitted by her education for all the duties of a wife and mother; and he says — marry her! La Femme begins, therefore, where L’Amour left off.’
The Troy Arena says:
