“The Sunshine Sewing Society had a pleasant time before the Bible Reading service Saturday afternoon in honor of Misses Tessa Majors’ and Julia Tollason’s birthdays, about forty being present at the Bible Reading service. Mrs. Wade’s subject was ‘Lord, teach us to pray,’ and Mr. and Mrs. Wade sang, ‘Can a Boy Forget His Mother’s Prayers?’ At the conclusion of the service cake and coffee was served and as a birthday gift Miss Tessa received her quilt and a book of daily readings, ‘Women’s Thoughts for Women,’ bound in white and silver; and little Julia her quilt and a pencil box.”
